Best Buy's Insignia launches first US portable ATSC LCD
We've been wondering when this was going to happen; in fact it's hard to believe that ATSC has been around as long as it has before the first portable popped up. Sure it is nearly impossible to enjoy HD on such a small screen (The NS-7HTV is 7-inches at 234 x 480), and ATSC is so notoriously bad for mobile use, but all of that aside, we're glad there's finally a way to enjoy digital programming on the go -- even if you have to stand still to get it. Now you can finally make that portable TV purchase you have wanted to, but were holding off because you knew it'd be obsolete when the analog signals go dark.

What? No price or availability? How about $199, available now. Very cool! I love the video inputs.

Also, from the documentation, details on the internal NiMH battery.
"Your TV can normally operate up to 100 minutes on a fully charged battery. Recharge the battery when the sound level decreases or the picture becomes unstable."
Comes with a remote too!

Ya... I'd hold off till it's made by someone other than Insignia(Best Buy), Dynex, etc. Insignia makes complete crap that both looks horrible and breaks VERY easily. To clarify, I got an Insignia 32" TV and brought it home and it worked perfectly. Then the second time I turned it on there was that big line in the middle of the screen. Ya, a dead line. Also, its not just my own experience; as I've said on other posts I worked at Best Buy and it's pretty well known amongst the employees that you can count on Insignia products breaking fast.

There's an LG sticker on the back of my Insignia plasma tv. eek. :)

If it takes Insignia to prompt other companies to get on the ball, so be it.
Bluetooth-incorporated MP3 player? Insiginia did it first. Universal rear wireless speaker system, Rocketfish (another Best Buy brand) did it first (and it ROCKS BTW!).
Insignia's Portable DVD players are fantastic, and the new LCD panels are made by Samsung.

Insignia is crap, and when it does break Best Buy treats you like crap for their mistake expecting to you live 60 days without a TV you paid over $1000 for... I did finally get it replaced with a Samsung that has worked perfectly but not after being without a TV or getting the run around on repairs for 60 days...

This is a garbage! I live in Long Island, and don't get any signals. How can a company like Bestbuy bring this kind of garbage.

My Insigna mp3 player after a year still working like new. Best Buy brands are very good quality dispite what others may be saying.

Another junk from Insignia. It does not work at all inside the building. The plastics look cheap. What a waste of money.

Look at the reviews of Insignia MP3 players and try to say all their products are crap. They make some good products, that will save you a bundle. They were also the first to offer Bluetooth on an MP3 player in the U.S. They have come up with some innovative ideas, whether you like their equipment or not.

Yeah, my Insignia MP3 player is great. NV2G. I think it's made by iriver.
BestBuy is a dopey company sometimes though.

I know it has a very low res screen but why bother making it widescreen if it will only display 480i content. From their web site:
Note: Digital content, regardless of broadcast resolution, will be displayed at standard-definition (480i) screen resolution.
They might as well make a tuner to plug into my HTC 8525.

To defend Insignia is pushing it. I bought a Home Theatre system from the at the same time at the TV. Suprise its not working. Considering I spent little on it and not wanting to hassle again to get it fixed or replaced. I don't feel like being on the phone for hours just because they make crappy products.
Secondly when I got my LCD TV replaced, the customer service agent at the store pulled up the wrong authorization for another Kelley in the state of Florida. Secondly go read reviews on the same model I had and you will realize its a Lemon, but Best Buy never admitted that. In fact one unlucky couple at a reviews site who bought the TV actually got it fixed in a decent time frame only to have it break right after warranty and Best Buy refused to do anything about it. The only reason I finally got anything done was because I contacted the BBB, The Florida Attorney General (who also informed me that Best Buy is under investigation for Warranty Practices), and that I threatened to sue not only BestBuy but the agents I talked to personally in Civil Court because they knew they were wrong, it was a lemon based on their statistic, and personally they choose to follow company policy even though it was wrong (Enron).
If you wanna deal with Insignia or Best Buy that is your choice, but you have been warned. As for me, they have lost a good customer permanently and the joy of me telling my friends and family to boycott Best Buy.
